When the new K1200RS was first announced, we had a long list of people who had pre-orders for them. Bob Shaules was one of them. He purchased this bike in July, 1997, one of the first that we delivered. This bike was produced in March, 1997 (very early for a 1998 model) and purchased in July, 1997. Bob took the bike straight home, where he tucked away under cover in climate-controlled storage. This bike never ridden or started, not even during the pre-delivery assembly per Bob’s request.
Along with the bike you get the factory repair manual, original owners kit (a bag of goodies including a battery charger that BMW provided to new bike purchasers), tool kit, tire repair kit, keys, owner’s manual, original sales documents, and an assortment of spare parts. There is also a rear seat cover that gives the bike a sportier “solo” look.
It is important to note that this motorcycle is being marketed and sold as a collectible display bike. As such, we do not anticipate that it will be ridden. Therefore, we have made no evaluation nor make any claims as to its roadworthiness. Additionally, this motorcycle is being sold as-is, without any warranty expressed or implied. In the event that the purchaser decides to operate this motorcycle, we recommend that he/she have it thoroughly evaluated by a qualified mechanic and then perform any and all repairs and reconditioning needed to bring the bike to a safe and mechanically sound condition. Some issues that can affect vehicles which have been stored without use for extended periods of time are; deterioration of rubber parts, tires can become hard and/or cracked, oil seals can dry out and develop leaks, metal parts can become rusty or pitted, fluids can absorb moisture, and fuel system parts can become varnished and clogged.
